The Year in Pictures – 2025

Bobfest III marked Bob's milestone birthday weekend in October, but there were plenty of other "fests" to celebrate along the way. As I look back on the year through my favorite photos, they reflect that in between work, I did fit in some fun, some travel and some special moments at home, a reminder of why loving where we live matters.

Coldfest

Started the year in Victor, Idaho where temps hit -30! The Tetons hogged the sun as we hogged the blankets inside.

Gardenfest

Bob followed in his dad's footsteps and finally put in his garden. The pitchfork is to keep the Egyptian geese and ringtail cats out of it!

Big hits:  Basil, parsley, cherry tomatoes, peppers and zucchini

Duds:  Slicer tomatoes, squash

Oregonfest

Stayed in a cozy cabin along the Metolius River to decompress before heading to Bend to help a friend celebrate his milestone birthday.

Desertfest

Palm Desert didn't disappoint. The putter did, but the meals, hikes, cool desert art exhibits and company made up for it. Oh, and seeing Lucille Ball's old house.

Peterfest

What a thrill to see our son-in-law's picture in Times Square when his company went public. Working for who I refer to as the "Winkledink" twins is sure to pay off!

Powderfest

MC found the perfect powder snow, minutes from their new home in Salt Lake City. Lunch breaks look a whole lot different -and got a whole lot longer-now that so many mountains are so close.

Golffest

The whole family came out on Father's Day to join Bob and me for a relaxing (?) round of golf followed by dinner. Relaxing, that is, until Bob got the bill...

Birthdayfest

Spent my birthday golfing with my oldest childhood friend who was in charge of keeping score and left out any bad holes. Thanks to Kim, it was the lowest round I've ever had!

Friendfest

A fun couple's trip to Telluride where the town was preparing for the annual film fest, happening the next week. We missed the fest but avoided the crowds and got right into restaurants and onto golf courses.

Sisterfest

"We are family, I got all my sisters with me" I always think of that song when we get together in Seattle. This time it was to visit our 92 year old mom Sally, who was thrilled to see her daughters--and the sun!

Tennisfest

Celebrated a retirement--not mine--a birthday and just being able to play tennis bright and really early every Sunday with this fun crew!

Damfest

Loved witnessing 230 paddlers on their 21-mile journey for cancer awareness during this year's Damn That Cancer event on Lake Austin. Congrats to my friend Liz who was the oldest participant but youngest in spirit!

.

Joefest

It's nice that son Joe is a great golfer and also very patient with the rest of us. As you can see, his approach to teaching proper golf techniques is very "hands on" and it has worked for most of the family members. (Just hard to teach one certain old dog new tricks)

Bobfest III

Third time's a charm. Bob turned 70 and his childhood friends arrived for the third decade of the Bobfest. Bob looks the same as he did when he was 3; same color (and amount of) hair, same reckless driving and same old Bob, just all new parts and a bigger car!

Napoleonfest

The leader and military commander of the French Republic known for his authoritarian rule AND the picture my family used on our group texts describing me during my rotator cuff surgery recovery in 2024.

Shoulderfest

Bob's turn to get a new wing and now it's his turn to be called Napoleon, barking orders while wearing his sling. We're losing weight with the other chef (me) in charge. Hurry back, Bob, I'm starving!

May your days be Blessed with your own Favorite Fests!

Happy Holidays
