August 2022: Four Announcements

As we endure another month of record hot temperatures I like to compare the current Austin real estate market to the weather. It's like sitting in the shade - it may feel cooler, but it's still hot!

Austin continues to be a hot spot for many companies who are moving here, continuing to drive the long term demand side. The "cooling" we are feeling is that many buyers are taking a pause from purchasing until they see where interest rates and home prices will settle. The result is increasing inventory so buyers will have more homes to choose from and sellers will become more realistic about pricing.

Read all my announcements below and be sure to read the biggest one at the end!

And if you are ready to have some real talk about your real estate needs, let's start the conversation!

Announcement #1: It's not all bad being cooler.

Want to understand what is going on now in the Austin market? ABOR's president-elect Ashley Jackson has some good insights.

Announcement #2: Even at 102, there are fun things to do.

Paramount Summer Classic Film Series

All of August 2022. Paramount Theatre's Summer Classic Film Series will feature tried-and-true classics, new classics, special anniversaries, Pride screening of Paris is Burning, and a partnership with Hyperreal Film Club, which has added an expertly curated six-film miniseries.

Announcement #3: Leasing might be a good option right now.

Low lakefront inventory and high prices are causing many to consider leasing lakefront homes as a way to enjoy lakeside living.

Just leased | 6707 Troll Haven

"We have been very interested in living on the lake and our timing was perfect to lease after selling our home. Cathy was incredible to work with as she knows everyone and everything about Rivercrest and made our move so easy, even introducing us to our new neighbors! Cathy is not just our realtor but a new friend."- Happy New "Rivercresters"

For Lease | 6702 Elfland Drive

Here's another great opportunity in the Rivercrest neighborhood. A fully furnished 4 bed/4 bath house with it's own boat dock for quick access to Lake Austin. This house sits on a quiet cul de sac and could be a great option if you need to lease while waiting for the perfect home. Minimum term 6 months/Eanes ISD. Call me for a showing.

Announcement #4: She said yes!

Our daughter, MC, is engaged! We're thrilled beyond words for her and Peter. By the way, finding a wedding venue is a lot like finding a house; it takes patience, diligence and knowing (accepting?) your budget. Fortunately, their search will be taking us to both the mountains and cooler temps!
